Romain Daudet-Jahan et moi nous sommes rencontrés sur les bancs d’une classe préparatoire aux écoles de cinéma il y a bientôt vingt ans. Nous avons choisi deux chemins différents : j’ai pris la voie du documentaire, lui de la fiction. Alors qu’il réalise cette année Kyma, son premier long-métrage, un film de science-fiction tourné dans les forêts de l’Aube, je décide de l’accompagner dans cette aventure de la « première fois », et d’interroger la certitude du réalisateur face à la crédibilité d’un monde construit de toute pièce.
Romain Daudet-Jahan and I met on the benches of a film school preparatory class nearly twenty years ago. We chose two different paths: I took the documentary route, he the fiction route. This year, as he directs Kyma, his first feature-length science-fiction film shot in the East of France, I decided to accompany him on this “first time” adventure, and to question the director's certainty about the credibility of a world built from scratch.
